Easy School Lunches For Picky Eaters
Picky eating is found in up to 80% of the Autism cases. Most parents report that their child would only eat the foods they are familiar with or they would not eat at all.
This can make the lunch meal preparation challenging because you must find nutritious, sensory-friendly, easy to carry options for your child.
Today, we will share with you ASD parents’ most favorite lunch ideas for their children:
Sandwiches
- Cheese sandwich on wheat bread, pretzels, an apple, dried cranberries, juice.
- Peanut butter sandwich on cinnamon bread, red pear, frozen yogurt, cinnamon muffin, juice.
- Turkey and cheese sandwich, apple slices, chips, and a juice box.
- Peanut butter and jelly sandwich, dry cereal, vanilla yogurt, crackers.
- Nutella sandwich, organic cheese ball puffs.
- Cheese sandwich, yogurt, cut grapes.
- Cheese sandwich, applesauce, 2 organic sugar-free cookies.
- Rice cake sandwich with turkey and avocado.
- Cheese sandwich (no crust), sliced cucumber.
*In all cases, bread should be gluten-free, sugar-free.
*If you are on the GFCF diet, you can substitute yogurt, for almond milk yogurt.
Non-Sandwich Ideas
- Olive and lettuce salad, crackers, cherries, a slice of cake, juice.
- Peanut butter crackers, mini chocolate chip muffins (all sugar-free), chips, and grapes.
